Maintenance Director Wanted – Posted 4/25/22
Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty is looking for a well-rounded individual with general knowledge of facilities maintenance and construction. Supervisory skills are needed as the position oversees the housekeeping and laundry (5 personnel) and 1 additional maintenance person. We would like knowledge and skills in:
- Plumbing: Basic skills such as sweating copper, sink, shower and toilet repairs and or replacements
- Electrical: Basic troubleshooting skills and ability in replacing outlets, light fixtures, appliance repair, and systems inspections.
- HVAC: Basic knowledge of how systems work and ability to trouble shoot and who and when to call for service.
- Basic Carpentry: Framing, drywall installation and repairs, painting, minor masonry work.
- Ability to maintain records for State of Iowa authorities such as the State Fire Marshal and the Department of Inspections and Appeals.
- Technology: Ability to use a computer for day to day items as well as ordering supplies. Trouble shooting electronic systems such as fire monitoring equipment, nurse call systems, telephone and cable.
- Groundskeeping skills such as mowing, trimming, fertilizing and removal and installation of plantings.
- Valid Driver’s License or Chauffer’s ”D” Class license for transporting residents to and from appointments. If does not have a Chauffer’s license would be willing to get the endorsement.
This is a salaried position and does require on-call rotation for both weekends and off hours. This individual must also know their limits and when to call a contractor. Local connections to various contractors a plus.
